Culinary love at first sight: FAUCHON & Heinz unveil the ‘Tomacaron

At the end of the 19th century, two young entrepreneurs, Henry J. Heinz and Auguste Fauchon, pursued their respective passions for producing the finest foods based on the principle of quality. For over 150 years, generations have developed what can only be described as an irrational love for these two brands - and for many people around the world, it's a love affair that continues.

The collaboration

On the occasion of Valentine's Day and building on their history, Heinz and FAUCHON are unveiling the very first Tomato Ketchup macaron, the 'Tomacaron'. With this unique recipe, lovers of refined foods can expect to fall under its spell from the first bite. This macaron offers lively and delicious notes of red fruits, tangy and floral rhubarb as well as a touch of ginger, accompanied by a heart of Heinz Tomato Ketchup with an authentic taste. This creation is the result of a marriage of flavors, a rigorous R&D approach and tastings between the FAUCHON and Heinz teams to find the perfect balance.

An original box

Presented in a box of eight macarons – to be shared with a loved one or simply to treat yourself – each macaron was made, assembled and decorated by hand, by the FAUCHON team of pastry experts led by Executive Chef Sébastien Monceaux.

With only 57 boxes available, those wishing to taste the 'Tomacaron' will be able to do so by booking a tasting experience "Accord Tomacaron and cocktail l'Inattendu" from February 5 at the Grand Café FAUCHON, restaurant of the prestigious FAUCHON L'Hôtel Paris.

The experience will be available from February 14. Guests will be able to taste this unique 'Tomacaron', accompanied by an exclusive creation, "I'Inattendu", a signature cocktail, also available in a non-alcoholic version.

Extend the experience at the Grand Café Fauchon

Created by Jean-Baptiste Launay, mixologist at FAUCHON L'Hôtel Paris, 'l'Inattendu' is inspired by the unique notes of Heinz Tomato Ketchup, combining the balanced flavors of fresh ginger and lime, smoked star anise, the aromatic power of red tomato juice from France and a hint of Heinz Worcestershire sauce. The perfect pairing to balance the fresh side of the rhubarb in the 'Tomacaron'.

A word from the Chef

From the start, we loved this bold and offbeat idea of combining Heinz Tomato Ketchup with FAUCHON macarons. The meticulous development of the final recipe for our 'Tomacaron' was a challenge to find the right balance of flavors. Playing on the pleasure of the fruit and the surprise effect were our leitmotif in this rock & roll creation for Valentine's Day. By combining unexpected ingredients with ketchup, such as rhubarb, red fruits and ginger, we at FAUCHON wanted to delight the taste buds of fans of this iconic sauce and satisfy the most demanding palates. A few sesame seeds sprinkled here and there and this little brushstroke by hand adds a touch of fun to the macaron. A surprising experience where opposites attract.”
