Cahors Royale 2011 Château de Cayx

Located in the heart of the Cahors vineyards, the Château de Cayx already existed at the beginning of the 15th century, and in all probability well before. It was probably originally a fort built to control and monetize navigation on the Lot. The Cayx vineyard, planted on nearly 24 hectares, remarkably exposed due south and sheltered from the north winds, benefits from a lot of sunshine. La Royale benefits from an excellent terroir, part of the plot of which was replanted in 2002. This high-density planting (6,660 vines/ha) makes it possible to limit the yield per vine and thus obtain better quality grapes. With an ebony black color, the wine reveals a nose of spicy and vanilla notes characterized by a great concentration in the mouth, full of power and amplitude. La Royale, a wine for laying down par excellence, offers magnificent potential in the lineage of grands crus. Produced only in exceptional years.
